The picturesque Simonton home built in 1910 has a commanding view of the busy street of central Florida's charming historic town of Micanopy. The intricate iron scroll work and garden backdrop made an interesting study in light and shadows. Older homes have such wonderful features. This is another study in light and shadow inspired by a photo supplied by Lynn Ferris. The piece was drawn and the painting was started in Lynn Ferris' workshop, then completed in my studio. More architectural paintings of historic homes in Ocala and Micanopy are in the planning stages. The American Flag displayed from the front porch of many homes in downtown Ocala.
The lush tropical foliage surrounding the home creates a backdrop for the flag.
